Our TK students serve as role models for younger students at TMA. They focus on the 5 main areas of the Montessori classroom; Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Science/Cultural studies. Students are introduced to progressively more advanced Montessori materials and sophisticated lessons. Our TK classroom has a strong influence of Balanced Literacy, including the reading and writing workshops. Each day, students will be exposed to journal writing, shared/interactive writing, shared reading, independent reading, and eventually guided reading. Our literacy and Montessori specialists work closely with teachers and students to ensure elementary school success.
