Literacy Specialist
Joelle Toner is TMA’s literacy specialist and has been in the education field for over 18 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Buffalo State College where she majored in elementary education with a minor in social sciences and is registered with SC Endeavors as an early childhood trainer. Joelle oversees TMA’s balanced literacy program where she works closely with students in our TK and Kindergarten classrooms. She provides formal literacy assessments throughout the year to students 4+ and conducts small group, leveled reading instruction to TMA’s kindergarten students. Additionally, Joelle coordinates and manages all our enrichment programs throughout the year such as gardening, chick embryology, art education, and STEM. She initiated and maintains our school’s pollinator garden for TMA’s monarch conservation program and works closely with all our enrichments teachers to bring outstanding learning experiences to all our students.
A Buffalo, NY native, Joelle relocated to Fort Mill, SC with her husband and family in 1995. Her son Donny graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and currently lives and works in Denver, CO, and her daughter, Nicole, is pursuing a nursing degree at the University of South Carolina.
Joelle loves teaching our little learners how to read and write and explore the world around them and looks forward to another exciting year at Trinity Montessori Academy!
