*To be considered for TMA's kindergarten program, students must turn 5 yrs. old on or before September 1.

Our kindergarten students serve as role models for younger students at TMA. They focus on the 5 areas of study in the Montessori classroom; Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Science/Culture. As the year progresses, students are introduced to progressively more advanced Montessori materials and sophisticated lessons that exceed kindergarten state standards. 

Our kindergarten classroom has a strong influence of Balanced Literacy, including the reading and writing workshops. Each day, the students will be exposed to journal writing, shared/interactive writing, shared reading, independent reading, and eventually guided reading. Our kindergarten students will meet in a small group setting with our literacy specialist each week in TMA's literacy center for advanced instruction. 

Our literacy and Montessori specialists work closely with teachers and students to ensure continued academic success.
