TMA’s toddler classrooms safely support our young learners’ drive to do things alone, helping to develop confidence and a sense of competence. Children work independently, explore freely, and express their curiosity and creativity. Teachers read aloud to students daily, begin to teach letter identification and sounds, and children are encouraged to explore reading and language materials on their own. Toddlers are taught independence with hand washing, nose wiping, and other personal hygiene skills. Low tables and small chairs in classrooms allow children to help prepare, serve, eat, and clean up their snacks and meals.
In our primary classrooms (3yr-5yrs), we use a hands-on approach to learning in five areas of study: Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematics, Language Arts, and Science/Culture.
Each day, the students will be exposed to journal writing, shared/interactive writing, shared reading, independent reading, and eventually guided reading. Our literacy and Montessori specialists work closely with the teachers and students to ensure all students are prepared for their elementary years.
